As a component of GID at Caux for summer 2009,  Journeys will extend the focus of the primary GID gathering to younger generations in an age appropriate and engaging week of activity, learning and connection.  These sessions will provide powerful opportunities in which the various aspects of cultural diversity integral to the core elements and philosophy of GID can be explored.

Participants can expect a full daily schedule of activities facilitated by experienced team leaders.  Evening options will also be provided!  Journey’s sessions can include but are not limited to:

  • Initial team building, ice breaking activities and games to build community.
  • Talking Circle Communication
  • Recreational activities, sports, fine arts and crafts, music, as well as local guided travel/tour
  • Opportunities to explore the environment of Caux and the surrounding areas for the purpose of broadening our participants perspective of our global village.
  • Networking for the purpose of future programs, volunteering, and advocacy
  • Opportunities to participate in a GID youth panel discussion.

Potential Journeys participants include:

  • Youth associated directly or through family participation with the Global Indigenous Dialogue
  • Youth associalted directly or through family participation with the Tools for Change Conference at Caux.
  • Language barriers have been anticipated; therefore, interpreters will be available for non-English speaking youth participants to help overcome potential social barriers.
  • All youth are welcome!
